  • The services described in Section 1830, except clerical, accounting, and stenographic services, shall be performed by persons who hold a valid credential issued by the State Board of Education or Commission on Teacher Credentialing of one or more of the types specified in Section 1704 or who meets the minimum qualifications for hire as a community college faculty member as established by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges or who is otherwise eligible for service as a faculty member of a community college district.

    Any person who is employed in the office of a county superintendent of schools on the effective date of this section and is performing any of the services described in this article may continue to perform those services without possessing the credential otherwise required as long as he or she remains continuously employed in his or her position.
