The department may consult with the Department of Insurance or the Department of Managed Health Care and shall consult with the Department of Justice Medi-Cal Fraud Unit, the appropriate licensing boards, and the laboratory field services unit of the department for the purposes of determining the qualifications, performance capability, and financial stability of prospective contractors.
